Linking Ecotourism and applied coral reef research, the Reefscapers' initiative aims for a win-win interaction between the visitors and the environment using a recently developed coral propagation technique, the Coral Trays. Following a holistic approach encompassing both economic and environmental aspects, the benefits provided by the large scale implementation of coral propagation projects are extended to all stakeholders:
  • Resorts, by aesthetic increase and marketing
  • Researcher, by notably increasing the experiments opportunities
  • Guests, by education, awareness and sponsoring
  • Locals, by providing alternative localized livelihood to fishing
  • The Coral Reef, by restoring or creating new habitat supporting the closely associated marine life.
